Social Society (“we”, “us”) runs socialsociety.io, where brands work with creators to make video content and ads. This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Questions? Email hello@socialsociety.io.

What we collect
Your account
Your name, email address and password. We store the password only as a secure one-way hash. We also keep records of your sign-in sessions and password reset requests.
Brands
Company name, website, logo, products, briefs, budgets and goals, video approvals, messages and any contracts you upload. When you give us your website, we read its public pages to prefill your brand profile.
If you connect Meta, we store an access token (encrypted), your ad account and page IDs, and performance data for the ads we help you run, such as spend, impressions, clicks and purchases. If you connect Shopify, we store an access token (encrypted), your product catalog, and order details: totals, products, discount codes, the link a shopper arrived from, and a one-way hash of the shopper’s email. We do not store shoppers’ email addresses. We use this to work out which creator videos led to sales.
Creators
Your name, email, location, bio, categories, content style, social handles and portfolio links, plus the videos, captions and partnership ad codes you submit. We also keep your applications, messages, and a record of the permission you give for each video version.
Social profiles. When you give us an Instagram or TikTok handle, we look up that public profile, including your follower count and most recent public videos, and show it to brands you apply to or are invited by. If you connect your account through Instagram or TikTok login instead, we receive your account ID, username and recent posts, and store the access token encrypted. You can disconnect at any time.
Shipping address. If you request product samples, we store your address encrypted. It is not shown on your profile.
Payouts. We pay creators through Stripe Connect. Stripe collects your bank and identity details directly; we keep your Stripe account ID, payout status and a record of your earnings and payments.
Creators we contact who haven’t signed up
We find creators through public social profiles and creator discovery services. We may keep public profile details (name, handles, follower counts, categories and sample posts) and a business contact email so we can invite you to briefs. Every invitation includes an unsubscribe link, and we stop contacting you when you use it. You can also ask us to delete your details; see Delete your data.
Security and usage information
Our hosting provider records technical information such as IP address and browser type in server logs. We use a one-way hash of your IP address to limit repeated sign-in and password reset attempts, and we keep an audit log of important actions such as approvals, payments and permission changes.
Cookies
We use only the cookies the service needs to work: one that keeps you signed in, one that remembers which brand you are working in, and a short-lived one that secures account connections. We do not use advertising or analytics cookies.
How we use information
- To run the service: matching brands and creators, briefs, reviews, launching approved videos as ads, measuring results, and paying creators.
- To send account, brief and payment emails, and creator invitations.
- To keep the service secure and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
- To fix problems and improve the service.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
Who we share it with
- Between brands and creators. Brands see the public profile, social handles, follower counts, recent public videos, applications, submitted videos and messages of creators who apply to or are invited to their briefs. Creators see the details of briefs they are offered. Creator email and shipping addresses are not shown on profiles.
- Ad platforms. Videos a creator permits and a brand approves run from the brand’s own Meta account as partnership ads.
- Service providers who process data for us: hosting (Vercel), database (Neon), file storage, email delivery (Resend), payments (Stripe), creator discovery (Modash), public profile and social research (Apify), website reading (Firecrawl), and AI help drafting brand briefs from public website content (OpenAI).
- Platforms you connect, such as Meta, Instagram, TikTok and Shopify, under their own privacy policies.
- When required by law, to protect people’s rights and safety, or as part of a merger or sale of our business.
How long we keep it
We keep account information while your account is open. Social profile snapshots are refreshed and replaced over time. We keep financial records such as earnings, payouts and fees, and the audit log, for as long as tax, accounting and legal obligations require, which can be several years. When you ask us to delete your data, we delete or anonymize everything else.
Your choices and rights
- Update your profile at any time in your account.
- Disconnect Instagram, TikTok, Meta or Shopify at any time.
- Unsubscribe from creator invitations using the link in any email.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@socialsociety.io. See Delete your data.
Depending on where you live, for example in the EU, UK or California, you may have further rights, such as objecting to or restricting how we use your data. We respond to requests within 30 days, and we will not treat you differently for making one.
Security
We hash passwords, encrypt access tokens and shipping addresses, limit who can see what, and log sensitive actions. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password and tell us at hello@socialsociety.io if you notice anything wrong.
International transfers
Our service providers may process data in the United States and other countries, which may have different data protection laws from yours.
Children
Social Society is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone younger.
Changes
We will post any changes on this page and update the date above. If a change is significant, we will also tell you by email or in the app.
