Terms of Service

Last updated September 24, 2026

These terms apply when you use socialsociety.io and the Social Society service. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you use Social Society for a business, you agree on its behalf and confirm you are allowed to.

1. Accounts

  • You must be at least 18 years old.
  • Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your password safe. You are responsible for activity on your account; tell us at hello@socialsociety.io if you think someone else has used it.
  • Only add social accounts, websites, stores and ad accounts that you own or are authorized to use.

2. What Social Society does

Social Society helps brands find creators, publish briefs, review videos, run approved videos as ads from the brand’s own ad accounts, measure results, and pay creators on the terms of each brief. We may find and invite creators on a brand’s behalf. We do not guarantee a number of applicants or videos, or any level of views, sales or ad performance.

3. Briefs and agreements

Each brief sets out what the brand wants, the deadline, how the creator will be paid, and how the brand may use the videos. When a creator takes a brief and the brand approves the creator, both agree to the brief’s terms as shown at that moment, together with any contract attached to the brief and these terms. Later edits to a brief do not change terms already agreed.

4. Videos and rights

  • Creators keep ownership of the videos they make.
  • A creator gives the brand the right to use each approved video as described in the brief and in the permission the creator confirms for that version of the video. Using a video beyond that permission requires the creator’s agreement.
  • Creators give Social Society permission to store, display, process and deliver their videos as needed to run the service.
  • Creators promise their videos are original, that they have the rights to everything in them (including music and people who appear), and that they do not make false or misleading claims about products.
  • Creators must clearly disclose paid partnerships (for example “#ad” or the platform’s paid partnership label) and follow each platform’s rules.

5. Brand responsibilities

  • Describe your products accurately, sell only lawful products, and give creators what they need to make accurate claims.
  • Review videos before they run. You are responsible for your ads, including compliance with advertising laws and platform policies.
  • Use videos only within the rights the creator granted.
  • Pay the creator compensation and fees for your briefs. Ad spend is billed to you directly by the ad platform, not by Social Society.

6. Payments and fees

  • Creator pay can be a fixed fee per approved video, a share of eligible ad spend, a share of attributable sales, bonuses, or a combination, as stated in each brief. Platform fees are shown before a brief starts.
  • Pay based on performance is calculated from data reported by the platforms you connect, such as ad spend reported by Meta and sales attributed through tracking links, discount codes and store data. Our records are the basis for these calculations, and we correct them for errors, refunds and cancellations.
  • Earnings stay pending for a holding period (currently 14 days) before they can be paid out, so refunds and corrections can be applied.
  • Creators are paid through Stripe Connect and must complete Stripe’s setup to receive payouts. Creators are responsible for their own taxes.
  • We may hold payouts while we look into suspected fraud, disputes or legal requirements, and we will tell you if we do.

7. Other services

Social Society works with services such as Meta, Instagram, TikTok, Shopify and Stripe. Your use of them is governed by their own terms, and we are not responsible for them. You can disconnect them at any time.

8. Acceptable use

Do not use Social Society to:

  • break the law, or post content that is harmful, hateful or infringing;
  • make false or misleading claims, or buy fake engagement;
  • pretend to be someone else, or add accounts that are not yours;
  • scrape, overload, or probe the security of the service without our written permission;
  • get around fees, permissions or payout holds.

9. Suspension and closing accounts

You can stop using Social Society at any time and ask us to close your account; see Delete your data. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put others at risk. Briefs already agreed, earnings already owed, rights already granted for approved videos, and sections 4, 6 and 10 to 12 continue to apply after an account closes.

10. Disclaimers

The service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties beyond those in these terms, including about results, uptime, or the accuracy of data reported by other platforms.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Social Society is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for lost profits, revenue or data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or $100 if that is greater. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

12. Your responsibility to us

You agree to cover Social Society’s reasonable losses and costs arising from claims about your content, your products, or your breach of these terms or the law.

13. Changes

We may update the service and these terms. We will post changes here and update the date above, and tell you by email or in the app about significant changes before they take effect. Continuing to use Social Society after that means you accept the updated terms.
